Hi!
I went out in Osaka on a Friday night (tonight), and walked around Shinsabai, Dotonbori, Shinsekei, and Umeda. I saw a few things that confused me. Firstly, I got the following impressions:
– Umeda: male employees in suits drinking after work
– Shinsekei: carnival games and pretty quiet
– Dotonbori / Shinsabai: clubs filled with tourists, with sex workers walking along the streets, and a lot of maid cafés. And lots of restaurants where I saw locals eating in small groups.
Are my impressions correct?
If so — where do local young people go out? For example, I saw a lot of well dressed girls walking around Shinsabai and Dotonbori, but it didn't seem like they were going to any bars / clubs. Most of the bars I saw were pretty empty or filled with tourists.
Where can I go if I want to speak to more locals? Do they simply go to kareoke bars with friends, or do they go out drinking in the evenings as well? Do they ever go to night clubs, or is that only tourists?
Thanks!
