Any ATMs where you can do a cash transfer?

Are there? Trying to pay my rent and found on the internet that you can do cash transfer from the ATM (現金振り込み) but all the ATMs I tried require a card.
The management company says they don’t do 払込票 and I have to make a bank transfer but I cannot make a transfer because I’m not good enough (haven’t been in the country longer than 6 months). How do I?
Do foreigners have to live under the bridge for the first half a year?

Edit:
I have an account at the Postal Bank. I cannot make transfers because 6 months haven’t passed yet. That’s what they told me after ATM refused to do a transfer.

Update:
Nice people here suggested that I should use ATM at the actual bank branch during working hours. I’ll try that tomorrow and update it here for future generations (if that will be successful)

  1. You don’t need to be in the country for 6 months to sign up for a bank account. As long as you have a residence card that’s valid for at least 6 months or so they should let you sign up.

  2. You have to use an ATM in an actual bank branch of a large bank during bank business hours to do that. So, go to a branch, not an ATM corner, of either MUFG or SMBC between 9AM to 3PM and try again.

  3. I had to do this years ago. I had to do it at the ATM of the bank my landlord uses. They are specialised ATMs that are inside the larger branches. Not seen one in a while though and this bank was a small local building society.

  4. Are you working or a student? If you are working, take anything that can proof that you are working and go to the counter. You are no longer 非居住者 and they will unlock your account to allow domestic transfer.

Otherwise, you really need to go to the ATM of the bank you are transferring into, and probably only ATM that are next to the actual branch will do cash.

  5. Regarding your update, you can take cash to the bank of your landlord and deposit it their account. There may be a limit on depositing cash into an account that isn’t yours via ATM (It was ¥100,000 at a bank I recently went to when paying for some construction work.) In that case, you’ll need to do it at the counter and fill out paperwork and pay a small fee (like ¥330). I also had to fill out a form about PEPs (politically exposed person) saying that I didn’t have any connections to foreign officials and whatnot.

  6. I use Wise to transfer from my JP post to my parents in Mexico. Wise offers the best transfer rates.
You need your mynambaa cado to register for wise.

  7. Looks like you’re already going to check out the main branches. I’ll add that some ATMs only list the cash option in Japanese and if you select English that option either won’t be listed or the machine will tell you it only does card transfers. Good luck!
