Hi all!
Looking for some visa advice coming from a US citizen. I am starting a job teaching English at the end of summer. Hoping to do this for a year (or close to) until I start grad school the following fall. My partner and I are hoping for him to join me out in Japan and then wherever I end up going to grad school afterwards he will follow me and find a job there. Since moving to Japan was my idea and plan, he’s looking for jobs in Japan but wants to come in on a tourist visa and just stay with me/take a few months off working until our next destination if possible. We’ve been saving up for this for a quite a while so finances shouldn’t be an issue. However, I’ve read online about a 180 maximum day rule but couldn’t find anything official. Does anyone have experience or link to a site showing how strict this rule is? I guess I’m wondering how possible it is for him to stay a couple months past that maximum? Or does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?
