Looking back, Hobbs vs. Mox for the WHC felt a bit forced and random. All the opponents in AEW Gedo could've had to face Mox, why Hobbs?
Unless of course, that match was more of an audition. Hobbs faces the world champ to get his name out there among Japanese fans. Then the guy who took the top guy in NJPW to the limit gets announced for the G1. A gaijin beast in the vein of Scott Norton, Jeff Cobb and Jonah.
But unfortunately, Hobbs got injured. So some strings had to be pulled to get Konosuke Takeshita, an AEW guy who is also from competitors DDT, to take his place.
Is this theory too far fetched?
