I've been living in my apartment for 6 years and it's my first time transferring to a new apartment by myself(last time my company handled my moving out process, since i switched companies i'll be on my own this time.)
The real estate agent was supposed to rent me a different room and at the last minute switched the room number and gave me a more dilapidated room. Because i didn't have time and much of a choice then, i accepted. The apartment is in kawaguchi saitama so i don't think tokyo rule covers my case.
So the bathroom floor wasn't clean, door paint was coming off and there was existing damage on the Kitchen cabinets and a chip on the window.
It's written on my contract that i'm liable for all damages 「残置物の修理、交換、撤去など全ての費用は賃借人の負担とする。」
I haven't submitted my letter of moving out so i don't know if i'll actually be asked to pay for the repairs of the areas that were broken beforehand.
Can I still contest this with the landlord if ever? And should I get a lawyer if ever? Any advice would be appreciated. I understand I'm already dumb for signing a contract despite being bait-and-switched but I really had no choice at the time due to time constraints.
