Asthma spray in Japan

I will be traveling to Japan later this year and I know I can take my asthma spray. Do I need to keep it in the box or if I get a written prescription on a paper and attach it to the spray will that suffice? We are traveling light and I rather not take the box if I don’t have to. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
