I currently work at AEON and did not get my contract renewed. This is due to the fact that the company seems to be downsizing a lot, merging schools and shutting some down. I also am not very close with my manager but we are overall professional and polite. However, I do have good relationships with the trainers. When they broke the news to me that I wasn't going to have my contract renewed they said that if I finish out my current contract, I could get a letter of recommendation. I am looking to apply for university after I finish and could really use a good reference. Has anyone gotten a letter of recommendation from AEON or a similar Eikaiwa? Is it usually guaranteed or is it something your manager needs to nominate you for or something? Who writes it? Is it just a copy-and-paste situation or is it actually good?
I'm also trying to save money for when I move back to the States next February, so really the only reason I'm completing the full contract is for the reference and consistency on my resume. Otherwise, I'm considering switching to a higher-paying job. Does that seem like the right thing to do?
