Drove through red signal

Hi Fellow Members

Today studpidly I drove through a red signal near downtown Akita.I did not see camera flash. Also, I purposely went on that street again to see if there is any camera on signal post but did not see any.

How can I confirm if there is a camera around or I was fined.

The number of cameras that are on roads in Australia has sort of causes me trauma.

I need to be careful again.

  1. Meh, shouldn’t be an issue. Worst case is you see that violation upon DL renewal.

Edit: in the spirit of road safety, please drive carefully from here on out

  2. You need to be more careful but if you don’t see a camera, there likely isn’t one. Japan hasn’t really embraced the camera cops except on the freeway to charge tolls

  3. Japan isn’t as bad as Australia, where speed camera traps are set up maliciously with the intention to raise as much revenue as possible. Chances are you will be fine

  4. Man if there were cameras in my area they would be raising so much revenue in fines for red light/speeding through the intersection.

  5. If there is a camera, you will get a ticket. If there isn’t a camera, you won’t.

Why do you retroactively care about finding out if there is a camera there unless you are planning on running a red light again in the future? No matter the outcome of your “investigation”, nothing changes in regards to your past actions.

Live your life, do better going forward, and, if you do get fined, pay it.

  6. I drive every day and have never seen a red light camera. Was really surprised when my buddy who did working holiday in Australia told me how many there are over there. If you wanna know about speed cameras and such in your area download an app called オービスガイド

  7. I’ve done it a few times misjudging the (lack of) acceleration of a rental car. Nothing ever came of it, so lucky me I guess.
