My nickname

So one of my nicknames is joshi and I’m a male. Would it be weird if I introduced myself in japanese like that or would I go by a different nickname? Like Josh, perhaps?

  1. Well joshi mean female in Japanese so I guess it could be weird. You can pronounce it differently though like (joshu) which sounds more like your english name and doesn’t mean female in Japanese

  2. I just use Joshu in kana it’s ジョッシュ and I’ve never had a problem.

I suppose you could use Joshi. I don’t think it would really confuse anyone.

  3. In Japan a lot of people go by nicknames or a name they simply prefer. It took a while to realize that some people’s “names” weren’t their actual names. Therefore, I don’t thimk it would be weird at all.
