So one of my nicknames is joshi and I’m a male. Would it be weird if I introduced myself in japanese like that or would I go by a different nickname? Like Josh, perhaps?
Well joshi mean female in Japanese so I guess it could be weird. You can pronounce it differently though like (joshu) which sounds more like your english name and doesn’t mean female in Japanese

If someone told you your name in Japanese was Joshi they were trolling you for sure
I just use Joshu in kana it’s ジョッシュ and I’ve never had a problem.
I suppose you could use Joshi. I don’t think it would really confuse anyone.
In Japan a lot of people go by nicknames or a name they simply prefer. It took a while to realize that some people’s “names” weren’t their actual names. Therefore, I don’t thimk it would be weird at all.
well lucky for you joshu means assistant so now you have a new nickname
Jashi sounds very similar to how it’s pronounced in English you could go with that.
