Can I not pay 2 months worth of nenkin until I get a job?

I am a Japanese citizen currently studying and without employment. Apart from housing (where I live rent-free with my grandma), I've been relying on my savings in USD for living expenses and to pay for my school.

This year, I turned 20 and recently applied for a nenkin student exemption, which I'll need to renew until I finish my studies (around mid 2025).

However, there are ~2 months of payments due from before I received the exemption. I'm hesitant to use my savings, as they are also designated for future school expenses. Would there be any serious penalties for delaying payment of it until I'm employed an can actually afford it?

Advice would be appreciated.
