Does anyone know if you can obtain an amount of loose sea-glass from a manufacturer or glasswork shop in Okinawa?
I am looking to obtain a yet to be determined amount of unworked loose sea-glass to be used to work with local glasswork artists where I live in the U.S. so I can hand make a small glass container to hold a ring I will be proposing to my gf with.
(Everything below is reasoning why beyond proposal, so if you feel like it you can stop reading from here)
The reason for the sea-glass needing to be from Okinawa is because some significant events in my gf’s life occurred there just after she survived what would be a normally terminal medical problem for most people.
She lived in Okinawa, Japan for a time and got to sing opera in a private venue for former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
(She’s been musically trained since a very young age)
I wanted to try to represent life events that occurred to her that she went through and over came by obtaining things from locations she has been to or items she’s collected and reworking them with the theme of “past, present, and future” of both of our lives to show where we were before each other. Where we are now to show how we have affected one another and grown/changed.
