Hi!
Has anyone here ever attempted to transfer to either Sophia University or International Christian University?
I’m a student who’s currently studying at TIU in Saitama and I’m looking to transfer to either one of these schools because they have better “names” here in Japan.
From what I’ve read, it’s not too difficult to get admitted as a first year. What I’m worried about is that because I’m transferring, they may have higher standards on who to accept.
I inquired about their avg. SAT and TOEFL IBT scores and it’s 1338 and 102 for ICU respectively and 1300 and 103 for Sophia. My scores are safely above these averages at 1430 and 110, but my GPA is only somewhat ok at 3.58/4.00 .
Again, what I’m more concerned about is that my scores aren’t good enough to get accepted by transfer. I do have an N2 certificate, work experience as a teacher, and some other ECs, but Sophia doesn’t really ask for these.
I don’t doubt that I’d get admitted if I were applying as a first year, but my mum would be absolutely livid if I decide to do-over. I’ve been stressing a bit about these applications lately, can anyone perhaps chance me/give me some advice especially on the essay?
