I’m going to be in tokyo for around a week and want to know the best places for fashion shopping. I’ve been to tokyo once before and went to Ginza, Shibuya, and Harajuku for shopping. however due to limited time I wasn’t able to explore the area very much and find anything I liked. The flagship stores in Ginza are out of my budget and harajuku was overall overcrowded and overpriced (though i did get a pair of thrifted jeans).
My general style is vintage/youth trends. I’ve seen videos on social media of slightly grungy japanese street fashion and asian street fashion in general which i am a huge fan of. though i like uniqlo, that is not the vibe i am going for.
Ideally I would like to check out some affordable thrift/vintage stores (though i am aware that if a store is branded as ‘vintage’ it is mostly definitely going to be overpriced). For reference, I would expect to pay $10-30 (max 4500 JPY) for a t-shirt and nothing over $50 (max 7800 JPY) for a single piece.
Another key factor is that I will most likely be shopping alone for the majority of the time. I know japan is a generally safe country for female solo travelers but I would rather be safe than sorry. Please rec some popular/ but not overrated locations… if the shop is super niche and in a tuckaway location I do not feel very comfortable going.
tldr: where to go for cheap affordable trendy fashion (clothes, accessories, shoes) shopping in tokyo?? second hand/ vintage/ thrifting is good
