I am in the process of trying to purchase a new build house in Tokyo, I have found a place I love, in the area I want, however it’s one room too small for what I ideally would like. It does have a car port at the front of the house, but I don’t plan on getting a car because it’s so well connected with public transport. I’m wondering if it’s possible to convert the car port area into an addition room. I’m just curious if anyone has done anything like this and could advise on how I could find more info in doing a conversion, or what rules and regulations are out there regarding residential property conversions.
