For whatever reason, my school failed to register my kenkou shindan back in May. From what I understand, an admin thought I didn't work enough hours to qualify. I do, well over what's required. They did apologize, but that's about it. Additionally, there was at least one other part time teacher at the school that is in the same situation.
The kenkou shindan is always done during working hours when it's at the elementary school. We get all of the documents in our mailboxes and I've never had to ask about it. It just arrives. This year we got nothing, and the apology came after the fact.
Problem is, the next kenkou shindan is in September in the midst of college teacher training. It's also about 1km off site. My JTE is only giving me two options: take paid leave, or go while clocked out. This can't be right. That's not my problem. I'm willing to compromise, but he doesn't want to budge.
If it were my mistake, I'd go on my own time, but this isn't the case. The school made the error and apologized. Am I right to request the school to do the kenkou shindan during working hours?
