I'm planning 1-3 days in the Keramas as part of a bigger trip to Okinawa in a year or so, and am having a hard time wrapping my head around the differences between each of the three islands: Tokashiki, Zamami, and Aka. I'll be traveling with my family (my wife and her parents, and two young boys, 4 and 8 yo) so am looking for beaches that are relatively easy to access and safe, but in reading reviews about the most popular beaches it seems many have really small swimming areas and require a guided tour to go outside of that. We're not interested in a guided tour and we prefer beaches away from the crowds, so hoping to get recommendations on beaches that will feel private but also safe (no lifeguards or nets required, but relatively calm water with minimal currents ideally). We'd like to be able to swim and do some snorkeling, ideally shallow enough so I could stand and hold my youngest while he's snorkeling to see some fish and/or turtles. We'd also love the opportunity to drive around (we'll likely rent a car for the day) and check out some view points and ideally shorter hikes.
