Parking violation in Times Car Share rental car

Hello all,
So I got a parking violation(yellow ticket) on a car I rented from Times Car Share.
Times Car Share is asking me to go to the police station and pay the fine but I have read that it is better to pay the fine at the post office, as they will send a bill to the address registered for the car. But in my case, it’s Times car so I don’t receive the bill at my house?
What do I do?
Should I go to the police station and pay the fine? That will also cost 2 points on my license. Or should I wait and let Times car fine me instead? (although the fine from Times Car is higher).
Also, I am afraid that if I let Times Car pay it they will cancel my membership.
Any suggestions?

  1. You should do what they told you to. Why avoid the visit to the police station when its an easy way to solve the problem and keep Times Car from becoming agry/angrier at you.

Realistically, I doubt it is such an uncommon thing.

  2. You need to go to the police station in the jurisdiction where you got the fine. They register the fine against your licence and give you the paperwork to pay the fine. Dont wait to get this sorted.

  3. You’ve listed all the available options. You do what you want to do. And lesson learned.

It’s not the end of the world.

  4. The only reason why you would pay the fine yourself is …

    1. You have very few points left on your license.

    2. You have a gold license and don’t want to be demoted back to blue and have to waste time doing a road safety lecture when you go for renewal.

If you don’t mind any of the above, then just pay the smaller fine and lose the points.

it’s better to make a payment rather than waiting for them to send you a bill if you want to avoid further inconvenience.

  6. Now I see why I get so many messages from times car share to not illegally park the car.

Just do what they asked you to do man. You are responsible of your acts and have to stand up for responsibility when you screw up. Its not that expensive, right? And some points less means you have to be careful next time.

  7. Usually the reason you don’t have to go to the police station normally is because they can’t prove who illegally parked the car, you could have lent it to a mate etc. With a rental car/car share your license is registered as the only authorized driver and therefore enough proof. It’s why your license number is given to the police who can find your record. I’m not even sure if you can avoid the points if you just let Times take care of it and ban you, I assume they can let the police know and they can add the points on their end.

  8. Let’s all avoid what Times Rental Car and/or Police tell us what to do…and go to Reddit and ask everyone’s opinion. 🤷🏼‍♂️

  9. According to the Times contract, you should have immediately taken the ticket to the police station for that area and gotten the payment slip and paid the fine. They can issue the payment slip at the counter. They’re being nice about it by giving you a second chance to do so.
