  1. I don’t see why not – careful on what ILR actually means though. The “indefinite” isn’t.

  2. Yea. ILR is just the UK’s equivalent to Japan’s Permanent Residency (PR). So you won’t be in any violation of Article 11 of Japan’s nationality law because you are just obtaining a UK visa, not another citizenship (in this case UK citizenship).

    That said ILR, (like Japan’s PR) is not citizenship. It’s a visa and has to be maintained as such.

  3. “Indefinite” means the duration of the stay is not determined as opposed to “permanent” or right of abode. It is conditional and you still need to maintain your status
