For the US orientation (NYC embassy specifically), can we leave after the actual orientation part and skip the farewell reception entirely? I'd rather just come straight home with my passport in hand and finish my last minute packing instead of having to sit through a meal for another 1.5 hours. Just wondering if they'd notice and penalize/disqualify me for skipping the farewell reception…I'd much rather have my last dinner in the US be with family instead anyway🥲
Edit: based on most of the comments, I'll just decide what to do while I'm there. If the crowd is big enough to not miss one person, I'll probably just find a moment to slip out during the transition to dinner or something. So fingers crossed it's a big crowd lol. Otherwise I'll stick around and pray that rush hour isn't terrible so I can get back home at a decent hour…only to do the same thing all over again to get to JFK the next morning! But that's its own fiasco😵💫
