To those who have taught in both top end Korean and Japanese universities, is the student response notably different?

The impression that I get is that Koreans at least at the advanced level tend to be more outgoing than Japanese and I’m curious as to why. This might just be my anecdotal experience so if I’m mistaken please do let me know.

I’ve taught at the top end of both China and Japan. I’d say Japanese students are slightly more reticent than Chinese. I’ll also note that Japanese are far more globally aware and cosmopolitan than Chinese (a fact that is probably worse nowadays given china’s increased restrictions).
