Hi y'all, I'm currently on Genki 2, Lesson 22. This lesson covers the causative form which shows that the typical grammar construction is (Director) は／が (Cast)に (causative action).

There's this footnote that explains that there are cases where を is used instead of に.
1)Action caused is a reflex (ie crying, laughing)
Textbook Example: 私はその子供を泣かせてしまいました。(I accidentally made the child cry.)
This one seems pretty simple, but the second one is kind of hard for me to wrap my head around.
2) When the verb that is turned into the causative originally did not call for を
Textbook Example:
〇 先生は私をトイレに行かせました。 (The professor made me go to the bathroom.)
✕ 両親は私を本を読ませました。(My parents made me read books.)
The way that it explains is that because 行く doesn't take the particle を, that "を is up for grabs for marking the cast in the causative sentences." Since 読む uses を to mark the action, を can't be used to mark the cast. This all makes sense for now, but here's where I get confused.
In one of the practices, you pretend you're a boss making subordinates do certain things. One of them is 空港に迎えに来る. I thought that it wants you to say 部下を空港に迎えに来させます, but the audio recording that's on the OTO Navi app says 部下に空港に迎えに来させます。Similarly, in the Genki workbook, it wants you to form sentences using a set of verbs with 迎えに来る as one of them once again. The sentences formed mean "The boss made the subordinate do…" Once again, it's an airport w/ the provided context being 部長は大きい荷物を持って、空港に着きました。The answer in the answer key further supports that に is still kept in this instance and that the audio wasn't wrong, it says that the answer is 部長は部下に迎えに来させました。
I'm wondering, am I thinking about the footnote incorrectly? I expected that を would be used, but is 迎えに来る a verb that keeps に? Would it be ungrammatical of me to say 部下を空港に迎えに来させます? Maybe, I haven't reached the point where switching particles isn't as important yet and I'll learn it/do it more later down the line, but it just kind of perplexed me that it would give the footnote and kind of trip me up.
