I want to stay in Kyoto for a couple of months, what do I need to prepare for and what can I expect?

I have been to Kyoto many times as a traveler and it is my favorite destination. I plan to live in Kyoto for three months this year (and for years to come) to experience the city. Any suggestions from anyone?
