So I’m planning on buying a “new” used car around the end of the year to replace a 24 year old Kei we’ve been driving. The problem is that I live in Yakushima which is apart of Kagoshima but is a somewhat remote island.
I’m specifically looking for one car model, budget and year range. Most I’ve found are in the mainland.
So does anyone know how much it would cost to ship a car that far? Ballpark.

The cheapest and easiest option by far is to buy a car in Kagoshima or southern Kyushu then then take it onboard the Yakushima Ferry. It’s 20000 yen for a car under 4m long, plus the passenger fare of around 5000 yen. There is no way any other service would beat that price.

The shipping service I just looked up is 12000円 for first 10km, ＋2000円 for each additional 10km. You’d have to calculate from there.
The はいびすかす (Hibiscus) ferry from Kagoshima seems to be about 2~5万円 depending on how big your car is.
Say you shipped it 100km + the ferry, you’d be looking at 6~8万円.
