Off the beaten path suggestions for a second visit to Japan in Kyushu island.

Hi everyone,

Currently planning my second visit to Japan this October and I am trying to find any little gems on the island of Kyushu in terms of activities or visits. Some of these things that might be a lot less touristic or quite unique to the country. A small town worth visiting for the vibes? A unique temple?
Something that people that visited might have stumbled upon or that people that are living there know.

Any suggestions? I have already planned to visit Nagasaki (and Gunkanjima) and Mt Aso in the area.
