I'm sure this has been discussed before, but if anyone has some insight it'd be appreciated.
I'm planning on moving in August with a work Visa and I'm a bit confused with the order of necessary documents (not for the visa, but for other things). Example: most banks require a living address for opening an account, but I assume signing a rent contract would require a bank account number. Same for utilities and internet contracts, from what I've seen. So some things seem like they could fall into a catch-22.
Obviously thousands of people move into and live in Japan from abroad every year, so it's not like a mysterious thing. But I'd like to hear from people who did it, and if you guys have any tips. It's not my first time moving abroad for work so I'm aware of the general process, but any help would be appreciated.
Additionally, it would be nice to hear people's experiences when renting an apartment. How did it feel going to agents, visiting places, etc? Especially in the Tokyo area.
