We've been staying at hotels, and I have sampled the japanese breakfast items (rice, miso soup, japanese omelette, fish, pickled vegetables) but I've been struggling with the fish. I've found it very difficult to eat mackerel with chopsticks, but then I thought that maybe you're supposed to pick up the whole thing and eat the skin? I've been trying to pick pieces of meat while leaving the skin, but it has been messy and not very effective. We are staying at a ryokan tomorrow, and I want to get this right.
