Hi, I'm a foreigner working in Japan. I'm not sure if I will spend rest of my life in Japan, but I'll be in Japan for foreseeable future (5 years). I might move to another country or home country. But I part of my work is in Japan, that means I will still be coming to Japan and living here in between.
I want to buy my own house in Japan by getting mortgage loan. The problem is that, as I wont be living in Japan in yhw future, so getting personal mortgage would be underutilized. I have heard that we house on personal mortgage can't be rented out.
Another option I am considering is to get commercial loan rather than personal mortgage loan, buy a multi-tanent real estate (let's a two families house woth two floors), rent out part of the real estate, and live in the other part whenever I'm in Japan.
I know it could be a specific case but I have some questions to clarify my decision making.
1. Is it possible to buy a real estate in Japan on commercial loan, with the intention of renting out.
2. What are the possible complications I might need to settle rent out the property.
In other suggestions or comments are very appreciated, thanks!
PS: Another possiblity is just buying a single house and rent out during the times I'm not in Japan.
