Itinerary check – First trip to Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka)

Hello all! I'm planning my first trip to Japan at the end of November, and I'll be there for 8 days. I'll arriving in Tokyo and departing from Osaka. I'm looking for some advice on my itinerary to make the most of my trip. Here's what I'm thinking so far:

Day 1: Arrival In Tokyo

  • Land in Haneda late at night at 23:15, will check in hotel nearby airport

Day 2: Exploring Tokyo

  • Explore key spots in Tokyo such as Asakusa, Akihabara and Shibuya

Day 3: Tokyo to Kyoto

  • Morning: Travel to Kyoto (by Shinkansen)
  • Afternoon: Fushimi Inari Shrine
  • Dion District

Day 4-5: Exploring Kyoto

  • Kinkaku-ji
  • Arashiyama Bamboo Grove
  • Kiyomizu-dera Temple
  • Tenjuan, Nanzen-ji Temple

Day 6: Kyoto to Osaka

  • Morning: Travel to Osaka
  • Afternoon: Osaka Castle, Dotonbori
  • Evening: Explore nightlife in Namba

Day 7: Osaka

  • Universal Studios Japan

Day 8: Departure from Osaka

  • Maybe squeeze in a visit to kuromon Ichiba Market or one last sightseeing spot
  • Departure: From Kansai at 21:00

Q1:

I'm wondering if I should add a day trip around Kyoto, such as to Nara. Will I have sufficient time to spend on the main attractions?

Q2:

I'm considering a change in my itinerary. I'm thinking about giving up my first day in Tokyo to visit Fujikawachiko instead, and staying there overnight. Is it too tiring and worth it?

I'd love to get some feedback on this plan. Are there any must-see places I'm missing or should consider? Also, If there's a better way to structure this itinerary, I'm all ears!

Thank you.
