HomeOsakaI’m moving to Osaka for a year in two weeks. What is the cheapest supermarket to shop at? What restaurants and foods do you recommend? I will be in Higashiyodogawa-Ku

My family and I do our weekly groceries at Lopia. There are a few scattered around Osaka but the veggies and meats are unbelievably and significantly cheaper than other places we do our groceries at. Imagine 2kg of fresh chicken for just over 1000 Yen. And then Tomatos or onions, huge bag of them for only 200-300 Yen. My family and I only discovered this a few months back and if we did earlier we would have saved so much more money.
Food and Restaurants, honestly there are too many to mention, generally go to the smaller places avoid chains if you can. The food will generally always be amazing and quite cheap. Coming from Hong Kong where a Yakitori stick would be 1000-1300 Yen each, and then coming to Japan and paying 120 Yen for the same order but much fresher and better tasting….it is foodie heaven.
Gyomu Supa is a good supermarket with lower prices. There’s also a covered shopping street in front of Awaji Station with mom and pop shops selling vegetables, tofu, meat, seafood, etc. at very reasonable prices. I haven’t been there for 10 years so things might have changed, but it’s worth taking a look.

[Sunplaza](https://maps.app.goo.gl/BnV3LGQzUiF2ce9N9) is really cheap. I go to the one near me in Higashi-Osaka and get Wagyu Beef dirt cheap.

There is an Aeon Style close to Awaji that is relatively cheap for a supermarket (especially compared with Kansai Super or Hankyu Oasis).

Supermarket? Lamu

玉出 tamade is the cheapest but full of creepers and kinda crappy. gyomu is slightly better quality but i prefer daiei or gourmet supa
