I just went to the Roppongi clinic that deals with ADHD.
Speaking to the doctor, he pointed out that my medication doesn’t cause weight gain (ignoring firsthand experience of gain and subsequential loss) that’s incorrect and there’s journals to back it up.
Secondly, he said I would likely have been diagnosed with ADHD as a kid if I had it, but female adhd is often not diagnosed in childhood. I pointed out that this is the not the case with women. He countered with adhd being the same with men and women…again I wish I had the studies at hand to show this isn’t the same. I pointed out scientific studies are done primarily on men so…
Long story short, it was a frustrating visit of being gaslit and told things that newer studies and evidence disagree with..
Is there an adhd doctor in Tokyo that knows anything about diagnosing adhd in females here? I don’t wanna repeat that incident.
