Hi! I applied for Working Holiday last week and I will know the embassy’s decision this week. I’m super worried because I did mention working part-time in my motivational letter. When ( heard the don’t really mention work advice it was already too late )
I do not have any jobs lined up or any offers, I wrote the following:
“While experiencing daily life in Japan, I would like to do a part-time job that would allow me to use my existing Japanese knowledge and improve it even more. Being able to support me and my travel plan is another advantage. Socializing and understanding the work culture are also my main goals.”
I also had an interview (but rather a small talk) with the person in charge of the visas and when she asked 2 questions, the first one is “What do you plan to do in Japan?” and the second one was “Why did you choose WH?” I really want to travel but the moment she asked I feel like I did not emphasize enough on traveling..
I told her about me wanting to do a part time job to experience being around people and improve my Japanese speaking abilities.
I also closed the whole letter like this:
“Overall, my application has three main aspects. The first one is language learning and improving my current language skills. Next, changing the image in my head of Japan by working part-time and doing everyday tasks in a Japanese environment. Lastly, traveling and exploring as many sights and world heritages of Japan as possible.”
I am really anxious and can’t think about anything else! Please tell me your opinion.

Its called a /working/ holiday visa for a reason. I dont think you’re going to get rejected for pretty much describing to them the whole point of the visa. Try not to overthink it!
Thank you guys! I tend to overthink sometimes haha I got the visa! 🙂
Excited to hear, I also applied for the WHV just yesterday at the Frankfurt embassy, and have mentioned to work in my motivational letter as well. Lets hope for the best.
