Itinerary for 10-day trip this Winter (inc. snowboarding) for 5 people

Hello, I’d appreciate if anyone has any tips or things that can be tweaked regarding the itinerary plan for my family and I for this winter.

## Day 1 – Tokyo

### Activities

* See Shibuya crossing
* have conveyer belt sushi at Uobei
* Robot Restaurant
* Harajuku’s Takeshita Street

### Accommodation

Hotel Empire in Shinjuku ($50 per night)

* 3-min walk from JR Okuba station, 1 stop away from Shinjuku.

### Travel

* Express train from Airport to Shinjuku
* JR Yamanote from Shinjuku to our hotel in Shin-Okubo

## Day 2 – Hakone

### Activities

* In the morning, take the RomanceCar to Hakone.
* scenic ride on the Hakone Tozan Train
* Ride up the mountain in the Hakone Cable Car
* Take the Hakone Ropeway

### Accomodation

* Hakone Gora Kanon
* Private hot springs available

### Travel

* Hakone Free Pass

## Day 3 – Osaka

### Activities

* Osaka Aquarium
* Tempozan Ferris Wheel and Market Place
* Osaka Castle
* Eat:
* Rikuru cheesecake
* Osaka’s famous Takoyaki

## Day 4 – Kyoto

* Kyoto’s Traditional Kaiseki Dinner
* Kyoto Tower

Still in Osaka

## Day 5 – Nagoya

## Day 6,7,8 – Nagano (Christmas)

  1. Robot Restaurant closed, no idea if it will return in the future.

    Kyoto, either focus on Arashiyama/Kinkaku-ji or Higashiyama and skip Kyoto tower. Doing what you listed will waste lot of time in transport. Kyoto is easily 2-3 days just to hit the popular spots. Also, JR might not be the best option to go to Kyoto, just confirm with Google Maps to see what is the easiest/fastest between your hotel and where you want to go, you may prefer to pay out of pocket rather than use JR.

    Tokyo Metro pass is not especially a must, it really depend how many times you end up taking the subway.
