The concept of a master in japanese culture

Hello.
So i'm interested in how a master is percieved in japanese culture. By master i refer to a highly skilled person/craftsman/artist etc.
Is there a particular concept of a master in japanese culture ? And how are these experts percieved in the social arena?
I have stumbled upon the concept "shokunin", but i am curious to know if there are other related concepts. Or any other information you can share on this topic.
