I'm looking to move into teaching at the university level, and I keep coming up against "three publications" in various journals, and I'd like to start working on these. Has anyone here done them? Do you have any advice or journals you recommend submitting to? I'm a very good writer/researcher, but I have to admit I come into a road block when it comes to creating original content for linguistics. What hasn't already been extensively written about?? I feel like I just need a little guidance here and I can get started, but most resources I find for teaching in Japan are about eikaiwa/ALT stuff.
I have a MA in TESOL and a lot of people say to use my dissertation, but I don't think it'd work very well. Also, where does one even submit? Are these meant to be actually good articles, or just another bullshit thing you check off for appearances sake? (i.e. can I just submit some article to a journal farm and 'that's good enough' because hiring places won't even bother to read it?)
