Keio University, Power of the Mita-Kai?

Currently studying at Keio University (Doctorate) and was told that this university is one of the most highly selective and prestigious schools in Japan, with the 三田会 Mita-Kai (alumni association) being one of the strongest in Japan, even stronger than the University of Tokyo.

Except for the fact that it's easy to seek employment coming from Keio, what exactly does the Mita-Kai even do and how much influence does it have over the Japanese economy/companies? Has anyone had experiences with any Keio alumni in their workplace? Do Keio affiliates get to benefit from this?

Along with Japanese articles continuously stressing that Keio alumni holds the most Japanese executive positions, highest lifetime salary in comparison to other universities, xxx.. etc. I was surprised to see Waseda ranking a couple of places below even though they have a much larger alumni population.

What exactly did Keio do to enjoy such success over other national or top private schools here? Considering Keio is much less well known than Waseda/TokyoU overseas.

I am Japanese American and am thinking of building a career here.
