Hokkaido and Tokyo with 12-Year-Old Son

I'm a 43-year-old man going solo with my 12-year-old son. I've been to Japan five times (and lived in Asia), but I've never been to the north. So, we decided to explore a new part of Japan and then spend four nights in Tokyo. I travel super-light, and my son is a good eater and explorer. He loves baseball, video games, grilled meats, and hot tubs.

I have an AMEX Platinum, so the Tokyo Conrad is surprisingly reasonable.

How does Tokyo look? Anything I should shift around? Any must-sees in Hokkaido? No theme parks!
