8days itinerary – Japan

Hi everyone, I will be flying to Japan for 8 days and would really appreciate if you could take a quick look at my itinerary.

I am used to walking a lot during my trips, but my bf is going with me and wanted to re-check if my itinerary isnt too tight or rushed.

0 day

  • Arriving to Haneda Airport 11PM, – staying the at the hotel airport

1st day

  • Breakfast in the hotel, then get suica + top up the cards
  • Take the train to Ueno – check-in at the hotel (or store the luggage)
  • Take the train to Meiji Jingu, want to spend around 1-2 hours there
  • Lunch at Harajuku + short stroll around Harajuku (not expecting to go into many shops if any at all)
  • Shibuya Scramble Crossing + Hachiko, some shopping at Don Quijote, Loft, etc.
  • Dinner around Shibuya

2nd day

  • Grab breakfast from konbini
  • Take the train to Gotokuji Temple, planning to spend half day there, including lunch
  • Take the train back to Roppongi – Mori Art Museum or NACT
  • Dinner around Ueno

3rd day

  • Breakfast from konbini
  • Akihabara, visit some shops, plannign to spend half day there as well + lunch
  • Take the train to Shinjuku, walk through Hanazono Shrine, Golden Gai, Kabukicho, Omoide Yokocho + izakaya (or not)

4th day

  • Move to Tokyo St, grab ekiben or something from the konbini for lunch
  • Shinkansen to Kyoto, hotel check-in when arrive (or store the luggage)
  • Walk through Kijomizi-dera, Sannenzaka, Ninenzaka, Gion, Pontocho
  • Dinner somewhere in the area

5th day

  • Bigger breakfast from somewhere in the area
  • Transfer to Otagi Nenbutsuji Temple
  • Walk to Arashiyama forest (not planning to go in directly)
  • Have dinner somewhere in the center

6th day

  • Bigger breakfast from somewhere in the area
  • Take the train to Nara
  • Spend a day in Nara, walk through Nakatinidou, Kofukuji, Nara Park, Kasuga Taisha, Toda-ji Temple, Isui-en Garden + lunch
  • Take the train back to Kyoto
  • Have dinner somewhere in the center

7th day

  • Have a brunch/lunch in Kyoto + some snacks
  • Take the train to Kinosaki Onsen (3 hours)
  • Check-in at the ryokan, visit some onsen, dinner at ryokan + evening stroll around the town

8th day

  • Take the train to Osaka (3,5 hours approx.)
  • Check-in the hotel near Osaka Station (or store the luggage)
  • Nanba Yasaka Shrine, walk to Dotonbori, get some street food – maybe dinner if we are still hungry

9th day

  • Leaving from KIX around 12PM
