Hi all,
My soon to be wife and I are honeymooning in Japan for 2 weeks in June. Here’s a rough sketch of our plan. I would dearly appreciate any advice or input, especially if we aren’t being smart about coupling locations or attractions, missing great experiences, or being unrealistic. I’ve only been to Tokyo before for 2-3 days and she’s never been at all so it’s basically all new to us. Thanks so much in advance!
Day 1
Land around 1pm, hotel check in at Ginza, check out imperial palace and find a dinner spot in ginza
Day 2
Shinjuku, including Gyoen gardens, MeijiJingu, Metro Gov Building, Hamarikyu gardens. Any other things we shouldn’t miss besides casually exploring?
Day 3
Kabukiza theater show, then explore Shibuya, the crossing, Harajuku/Takeshita st, maybe Shibuya sky. Anything we shouldn’t miss?
Day 4
Ueno Park, Asakusa, Senso-ji, sky tree, akihibara at night.
Day 5
Morning bus to Fuji Q highland bus terminal. Not doing the theme park but our hotel there will be the central location for a day of checking out Arakurayama Sengen Park, taking a cab to Aokigahara forest to check out the caves, and then maybe e-bike around Oishi Park.
Day 6
Head to Kyoto. Nishiki Market, Gion/Higashiyama area and surrounding shrines and temples
Day 7
Fushimi Inari-Taisha, Arashiyama, Kyoto Gyoen garden, maybe the samurai museum
Day 8
Head to Osaka
Sumiyoshi Taisha, Shitenno-ji, Shinsekai area
Day 9
Osaka castle, shopping in Shinsaibashisuji, namba/dotonbori at night
Day 10
Fly to Okinawa
4 days of being beach bums. Maybe a snorkeling trip but mostly we intend to eat and relax
For food we are mostly going to use local reviews and our hotels for recommendations. We did book a Michelin sushi restaurant just for the thrill but otherwise we aren’t looking to be the fanciest. If you have a top restaurant recommendation for an area I would love to hear it!
Thanks again!
