I’m from Mexico, and this will be my first time visiting Japan. I love the experience of trying authentic traditional food whenever I travel, even if it involves visiting “no-hype” places (but I’m also willing to pay for upscale restaurants to the extent they are worth it). I’m visiting Osaka, Tokyo, and Kyoto with my wife later this month, and we would love to hear suggestions from locals for eating there! In particular, we would love to listen to any recommendations on (i) authentic, local ramen, (ii) the excellent and usual sushi places for locals, (iii) traditional/high-end sushi places (i.e., omakase) that are worth their salt, (iv) local seafood markets, (v) places to eat Kobe/wagyu, (v) cool and alternative bars/eateries. I usually prefer affordable places, but I am open to any recommendations (I’m from Mexico, and we are suffering of an intense gentrification that has resulted in bad, overpriced restaurants, so I usually distrust high prices).
