So it’s finally time for my student visa appointment at the Japanese Embassy in London tomorrow. I was just wondering what the dress code is for these appointments? I don’t really have much in the way of super formal wear, would smart jeans and a polo shirt suffice?

If you just have to hand them all the documents and wait for them to stamp the visa on your passport, don’t worry. At the Japanese embassy in Rome, they made us sit outside, under a gazebo, on plastic chairs: I don’t think they would pay any attention to the dress code under those circumstances.
