For those using wise cards, can someone confirm they were OK paying hotel stays with their WISE card? Let’s say a 10-day hotel in Tokyo which is over 300,000 Japanese Yen.
It would be my first time travelling with a WISE card and we are concerned that it might not be accepted for big transactions. We want to start loading the card considering the yen is getting stronger since July, initially we wanted to use this card only for smaller transactions like food and gifts and use my point-earning credit card for hotels but we are travelling in October and who knows where the yen will be then
Thank you

Wise issues normal debit Visas and Mastercards, so that’s your answer.
Why wouldn’t it be accepted? It’s just a normal visa card etc
They are standard Visa or Mastercard debit cards. That’s all that matters for them to be accepted. Wise does not have credit cards, as far as I’m aware.
Keep in mind, though, that you might have issues using virtual/digital cards in Japan, so I’d advice you to have a physical card just in case.
Just bought a (nice) watch with the Wise card here, you’ll be fine 😉
