I can accept some imperfect, slightly damaged or ugly looking fruits. I'm aware that in Japan quality is preferred over quantity among farmers and there's little competition with imported fruits.
I was raised in a house with a garden and rarely paid for fruits and vegetables, so I got used to having some fruits in the fridge/cellar at all times. Even after 6 years living here I don't understand why fruits are sold by count rather than weight.
