Would this be a good way to nail down vocab?

Would whipping out one of my Japanese light novels and highlighting and translating all the words I don’t know be a good way of acquiring vocabulary?

  1. Only if you then take those words and put them into flashcards or your review app of your choice.

    Consistent review (which takes many forms) is the only thing statistically shown to improve vocabulary retention en masse.
