Starting a Union – What can my employer do to me?

I'm a company employee, permanent contract and want to start a Union at my workplace to fight for better conditions like paid sick leave and better pay.

The company is in hospitality and has about 250 employees of which about 150 are entry level. The parent company has thousands of employees.

There is no union and when I was signing my contract I was told that joining/forming a union was prohibited, however this is clearly against Japanese Law.

If I try to form a union, what's the worst that could happen? If they try to fire me what kind of compensation could I expect if I took them to court with the backing of the labor board?

I would appreciate any answers or advice!
