Itinerary Check – Solo Travel 17 Days

This will be my second time going to Japan, first time I went with my family and explored mostly Kyoto with a little bit of Tokyo – this time I want to solo travel and explore Tokyo much more as well as travel to some more mountainous areas, hoping to see fall leaves. Also hoping to see Mt Fuji on a clear day.

Still working out exact details for each of the cities I'm going to, just wanted to get an initial check on my itinerary to see if my route/timing/duration of stay in each place makes sense, specifically for potential fall leaves viewing. Ik predictions haven't come out this year but wouldn't be surprised if it was later than usual, similar to 2023. I know mid-late November is more optimal for fall leaves viewing (my schedule wouldn't allow otherwise) so I saved the more mountainous areas for later in the trip. Also looking for thoughts on potential day trips from Tokyo.

10/28: Flight to HND Airport, arrive in evening

10/28-11/3: Tokyo – include a day trip to Yokohama (maybe Hakone or Nikko as well)?

11/4: Take Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kanazawa

11/4-11/6: Kanazawa

11/6: Take bus from Kanazawa to Takayama (considering visiting Shiragkawa-go in between)

11/6-11/8: Takayama

11/8: Take Shinkansen from Takayama to Kyoto via Nagoya

11/8-11/10: Kyoto – include a day trip to Nara

11/10: Take Shinkansen and Bus from Kyoto to Kawaguchiko

11/10-11/12: Lake Kawaguchi

11/12: Take bus from Kawaguchiko to Tokyo

11/12-11/13: Tokyo (mostly shopping and other last min activities, could be a potential backup for reserved ticket attractions)

11/13: Flight from HND back home, depart late night
