Advice on moving to Tokyo with my wife please – Visa process

Hi,

This is my second post here about moving to Japan, thank you for all of your advice previously.

I have signed a contract to move to Japan to work for a Japanese based company – they are handling my own personal work visa application.

I am having pressure applied to move before my visa process is complete, I believe that Golden Week has caused some delays in the process.

Am I okay to fly to Japan and start working on a tourist visa whilst my visa is finalised, or is that an absolute no-no?

Subsequently, how does my wife's dependant visa work?

If I were to wait until my work visa is sorted before I fly out, can she come with me and land on a tourist visa, and then apply for a dependant visa once we are in country?
