About a year ago we accidentally poked a small hole (about 2cm diameter) in our bedroom wall. It went through the wooden paneling that the wallpaper is stuck to. We told the rental company and they told us we could pay to have it fixed now, or wait until we moved out. We decided to wait just in case our toddler son did any other numbers on the wall. Today I read that asbestos in Japan wasn't banned until mid 2000s and our building was erected in 1999. How worried should I be worried about asbestos dust coming out of there? I checked it last year, but I just remember seeing the wooden panel, some space and then the concrete wall. I don't recall anything else. I'll check it again tomorrow morning, but I'm kind of freaking out because that's where we sleep :S
