Looking for recommendations to have an old wooden house renovated and seismic retrofitted?

Me and my wife were looking for a place to live together out of the tiny mansion we're in, and in that search, her father said that no one is living in my wife's late grandmother's house. After thinking for a while we thought that maybe it's ok to live there if we make the place safe to live.

It's a nice place but constructed before 1981.

We went to the 住まないの耐震診断 to learn more and we got a list of companies to choose from, while we get other stuff done.

If anyone has gone through this process before and has good recommendations or companies to stay away from, please let me know.

There's also the possibility that the place has asbestos inside the walls (couldn't see anything on the walls or ceilings), not to mention the electric cables and all.

In the case that the place is too damaged, we're going to see if it's cheaper to tear it down and rebuild from scratch.
