Met office is warning: be prepared for possibility of imminent massive earthquake

The Japanese Met office is telling people to prepare for the possibility of a massive earthquake as the chances of it occurring in the near future is very high based on previous data linked to when the Nanaki Trough has previously gone off.

  1. There is zero chance anyone can predict an earthquake. The way the J Met does it is say ‘well X years ago to this day we had a big one so we’d better warn everyone’

  2. The report was that the risk is higher than it was before this earthquake and will remain higher for a time. 

    There is not a “very high” risk of such an earthquake. 

  3. I saw the news and the guy said something like; the possibility is higher  than before but doesn’t mean an earthquake will come, just in case people should be prepared , emergency kit in this week and future  :/

    Also something that if anything occurs it can be in any area (nankai) and deep. 

  4. If you have a bunch of knives hanging by strings above your bed, and you keep thinking about taking them down but you are procrastinating, now would be a good time to do that.

  5. Using the word imminent is irresponsible fear mongering misinformation. There is no claim that an earthquake is imminent, nor should anyone take it seriously if anyone does make that claim, because we can’t predict Earthquakes.

  6. Why are the comments full of people who apparently know more than the meteorologists
