My Fuji accommodations

Hi all! My family and I will be visiting Japan for the first time this October and we are literally counting the days and hours until we leave. We will be there from Oct 7-17th. We don't have a solid itinerary, and based off of all the things I've read on here that may be the way to go. Our rough outline looks like this so far:

First 3 days in Tokyo to kind of get acclimated to the time change, city life, foreign country, etc. Have a place booked in Ueno for this already.

We then planned on spending a night near Mt. Fuji to do the cool "glamping" thing and do some sight seeing around.

Then take a 3 (or 4) day trip to Kyoto to experience the more "traditional" part of Japan. We may venture from here for day trips to Kinosaki, Osaka, and others.

We will then return for the remainder of our trip to Tokyo for night life, arcades, shopping, tourist type things and stay near or in Shinjuku.

My question for all of you is about accomodations for Mt. Fuji. Should I book a glamping site for a night ahead of time or wait until we are there? I have heard mt Fuji can have its own type of weather so I don't want to book a place there if we won't be able to even see it. But then again I don't want to wait and potentially lose the opportunity to have a place to stay. Has anyone booked something like this in advance? If so (or not) I would like your advice!

Thanks 😁
